Resolve To Do ____ for 30 Days

Matt Cutts is a smart guy. He directs a team at Google that fights web spam. He holds a doctorate in computer graphics. And, he preaches the benefits of trying new things.

Here, give this guy a spin for the next 3 minutes:

Is there something you aren’t doing today but would like to try for the next month? Or, is there something that you know is bad for you yet you keep doing it?

A new year enters our lives around the corner and now is as good a time as any to set your resolutions. If you don’t want to resolve something for 12 months, here’s your chance to trial that action or behavior for 30 days. You have my permission to try it out.

For my part, I resolve to go to the gym every day for the next 30 days. It doesn’t have to be an hour workout, for even 15 minutes are better than nothing. I’ll use the elliptical some days and free weights on other days. I’ll also go in the mornings to provide energy throughout the day.

I’ll share my results with you in 30 days and you can follow my progress on Twitter with the #30days hashtag.

That’s what I’ll do. What about you?

Thanks for the inspiration, Kneale.

Yo Ari, Not a big fan of new years resolutions as they seldom ever work. I am a huge fan of having a solid plan of attack everyday. What ever the adventure you are on or planning to go on you need a true conviction and you need to take action everyday and make it a part of your life. Solid post.

I FULLY agree, Miele. It’s like, by setting a New Year’s resolution you’re pretty much saying to yourself “oh look a whole year passed and I didn’t do so many things, and like everyone else, I’m going to resolve to do this in the new year”.. Pfft. Every day is a day you need strategic plans and take actions. People say New Year means a new chance to them. Look around you. Every DAY is a new chance to be the person you want to be!

Love the post. I am a firm believer that anyone can do something for 30 days. After that it just becomes a habit. I am going to stay away from Mt. Dew for 30 days.

Hi Ari,

A very appropriate post for the new year, since that is the time when most people take a look at their life, set new goals and things they want to do for the next year.

Inspired by the post ive decided to do the following for the next 30 days:

1) No TV
2) No video games
3) Exercise every day.

I already go to the gym 3 times a week, so the 3rd one wont be too hard, but i would like to be more active, take bike rides, go for runs etc. I will do something new each day.

Thanks again for this post. It kick started my new year.

First and foremost, I would like to greet you a Happy New Year! I actually don’t believe in doing things proper in just 30 days because based on my experienced before I failed so many times in doing so.

It’s okay to plan but make sure to stick to what you have plan.. And if you can do today it’s better to do it now, there is a tendency you can not do what you plan for tomorrow.

I’m working out five days a week. Started at the beginning of January and now its January 22nd…. only 9 more days to go but won’t stop there! It’s a habit now!
