In approximately four and a half hours, NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander is expected to land on the north pole of the red planet.
The University of Arizona and NASA are partnering on this historic mission. The last time a NASA spacecraft tried to land near the north pole was in 1999 but technical difficulties failed that mission.
Tune into NASA.tv at 6 p.m. to for a pre-landing briefing. It’s expected to touch down, barring no problems, around 7:30 eastern time.
