“Strive not to be a success but rather to be of value.” – Albert Einstein
Tara Hunt created a wonderful video that highlights the difference in Youtube video introductions. Some people begin the video in a friendly manner and others begin with their title and employer.
I attend a lot of meetings and gatherings when it is common for the host to ask everyone to introduce themselves. One by one, people say their name and title. Sometimes it’s a title on their business card, other times it’s a title they created on the fly. I used to echo that routine — but lately, I’ve just said my name. “Hi, my name is Ari Herzog.”
There is nothing wrong with introducing yourself by title and employer — but does anyone truly care what you do?
Introduce yourself by saying your name and jump into whatever you want to say. Yes?
