Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?
My word for 2010 is discovery
Looking back at social media tips I’ve shared on this blog…
I pondered if blogging should be scheduled,
I dissected Britney Spears on Twitter,
I elaborated why your quest to gain Facebook fans is silly,
I decided I would openly network on Facebook,
I explained why I left Foursquare,
I shared how to reduce your email inbox,
and I questioned how to define social media.
Through my questions in blog posts and your answers in blog comments, each of us gained insights.
But are we better people, smarter people, more enriched people on the web because of those insights?
My word for 2011 is endeavor
Using NASA space shuttle names as inspiration, I’d like to think next year will be a year of learning from each other, taking the best from existing case studies and best practices, and creating new endeavors in social media marketing.
It’s cliche, I know, for every year is new and different — but I feel 2011 will be unique. From mobile computing and cloud computing, collaborations will take a new light.
Those are my words. What are yours?
