Do you know these three men — and my loving connection to them?
Seth Godin is my inspiration and the impetus for why I do what I do, Chris Brogan is my hero for giving himself more often than any other social media marketer I know (and the conduit for the workshops I co-led with Andy Krzmarzick), and Danny Brown is my captain who helps me remember that we’re all in this social media thing together.
I think that’s the beauty of any relationship – you can laugh, learn, love and fight all at the same time, but there can still be mutual respect and agreement [and] it’d be boring if we were all super friends all of the time.
Danny has commented on my blog 105 times since October 2008. There is no doubt in my mind that I’ve likely commented on Danny’s blog a comparable amount of times
Seth Godin’s written something four times (usually in response to a post wherein I mentioned his name), and Chris Brogan added thoughts twice. Despite my commenting on Chris’ blog about 100 times, too, he rarely reciprocates; but this is OK with me because he is not my hero because of his blogging. Likewise, Seth is my inspiration despite his blog not allowing comments.
Danny, though… My relationship with Danny is all about giving and receiving, back and forth until we both turn blue from either agreeing or disagreeing — until we do it again on some other day on some other blog post and that’s where the love shines.
