On March 26, 2014, I announced my candidacy for State Representative of the First Essex District in Massachusetts.
On November 4, 2014, I received 1,122 votes in Newburyport, 278 votes in Amesbury, and 206 votes in Salisbury.
An independent candidate, I accepted an uphill battle on day one by competing with Democratic and Republican machines. I met many people and learned about many issues. After seven months, about 10% of the voting electorate cast my oval. It is a humbling experience.
To everyone who voted for me, supported me, and otherwise met and talked with me: thank you.
I wish the circumstances were different but I’m glad to have my life (and this blog) back. My at-large seat on the Newburyport City Council continues for another year. I want to find full-time work in public policy. Got an idea? Please contact me. Thanks.
