Recalling my pledge on January 30, 2010 to tweet up to five times a day, I’ve maintained an average ratio of eight tweets per day; and I’d like to share some monthly charts with you.
To provide perspective, here are October and November 2009:

…and here are February and March 2010. Of note, you will see a spike on February 26 when I used Twitter as a crisis communications service for my constituents when the city encountered a power outage.

These screen shots are captured from a running report you can do for yourself at TweetStats.
It’s worth adding that every message at http://twitter.com/ariherzog is a tweet, whether a broadcast, a reply, or a retweet. When you look at the broadcasts and retweets alone, that’s approximately within the 5 tpd mark; when replies are added, the number goes up.

wow.. I am thrilled to see your twitter analytics. I cant believe you averaged 38 tweets in a day during November. It would be insightful if you posted analytics regarding the genres of topics you tweeted.
I know its too much to ask..

Just a brief Edward Tufte-inspired comment–using different scales on the vertical axis diminishes the contrast between a high of 128 and highs of 36 and 15. As presented here the charts don’t really capture the stark difference–in fact, the last chart looks as if you’re tweeting MORE than in the first chart because of the axis difference.
If you could overlay them we could really compare the difference.
Interesting experiment though!

The only overlay the service provides is something like http://skitch.com/ariherzog/n7m3b/tweetstats-for-ariherzog
Love the chart usage here to track the tweets I might have to check out Tweet Stats, I haven’t toyed with that one yet.

I love TweetSTats – especially the tweet cloud. It really shows you what you say the most on Twitter, including who you retweet or reply to often. The time of day stats is kind of nice as well… it might be a good tool to use to find out when your influential followers are most active and aim the tweets you want noticed by them to happen during those time frames.
