About Ari Herzog

Elected to the Newburyport City Council for a 2-year term that began January 2010, I chair the neighborhoods and city services committee and sit on the budget and finance committee.

I was re-elected to a second term in 2011.

When not conducting city business, I teach social media marketing coursework at North Shore Community College and Northern Essex Community College, and write a blog exploring new and emerging media.

I’m secretary of the state chapter of the American Society for Public Administration, and president-elect of the Boston chapter of Social Media Club. I also represent the city on the Massachusetts Municipal Association’s policy committee on energy and the environment.

You can find me playing trivia at the Port Tavern on Tuesday nights, walking South End neighborhoods, roaming the aisles at Oldie’s, discovering new regional restaurants, and talking technology with peers.

Effective December 2011, I am currently networking to find a full time communications position to leverage my skills in writing, editing, media relations, and social media marketing.
