In an effort to reach out to people I know in real life to be my Facebook friends, and cognizant people take their time logging into the site and responding to friend requests, I sent 20 requests inside of 10 minutes.
Shame on me for being social because I’m now blocked from sending friend requests on the social networking site — or messages to existing friends on the site — for 4 days. Last week, it was a 2-day suspension. If I do it again (that is, send multiple friend requests in a short time span, having no idea how they calculate the algorithm), I’ll be blocked for a week.
Blocking is nothing new, sadly, which is quite ironic considering Facebook’s community standards insist upon self-regulation. If I can’t choose how I want to use the site, you can’t tell me to self-regulate.
