Foursquare, Plancast, and Tungle: 3 Applications to Share Your Activities

by Ari Herzog on Jan. 4, 2010 · 5 comments

Raise your hand if you’ve ever visited a location and wanted to share where you were with other people. Or, maybe you knew you were heading to an event and wanted to broadcast your plans? What about soliciting people to meet with you without dealing with back-and-forth emails?

Foursquare, Plancast, and Tungle can help you be more productive and connected with me and each other. I’ve used these tools long enough to recognize their vitality and I recorded the below video as a testament to how I use them in the chance you’d like to join in on the geolocational game.

I hope you enjoy testing the tools as much as I enjoyed making this video.

You are welcome to see where I am or create your own Foursquare page. Here is where you can follow my future exploits or create your own plans. And, while you are welcome to set up your own Tungle account, you can also book me for a meeting or call today.

My thanks to David M. for the photograph in the opening frame.

I’m using foursquare quite a bit and liking it.

So far I’ve found that the men friends I have do things different than the women friends I have. Funny how that is. Fodder for a new generation of PhD theses in sociology!

Hi Ari,
Just added you as a friend on Foursquare. We’ll have to hook up the next time I’m up in Burlington. Thanks for the great video intro to these apps and including Tungle (client). I’ll have to check out Plancast.

Sounds like a plan. You can tungle me anytime!

Sharing and collaborating is getting bigger by the day and is a very exciting trend, but most people aren’t using these types of services in Northwest Arkansas. I look forward to the day when adoption starts to ramp up even in less populated areas.

Thanks for the information here. How did you find these tools? I have never heard of any of them although Tungle rings a bell…I think! Do you spend hours researching for things like this?

Thanks again
