How to Blog About Anything You Want

Snack.

Some bloggers are uncomfortable writing outside their comfort zone.

These are usually the same bloggers who think the whole world knows them and reads their every word.

NEWS FLASH: The whole world is not reading your blog.

Don’t write for the world.

Write for you.

The moment you stop writing for yourself is the moment you start selling yourself to someone else.

You want to know how to blog about anything you want?

The answer is so easy it’s trademarked: Just do it.

I don’t know about you, but I’m very comfortable letting you read this sentence so you can make your own decision what to do next.

  1. Short, sweet post here, Ari.

I never really thought about like you stated here, but I just realized I pretty much write for myself.

Most of the things I write I need to hear the most :o

Hope all is well in Ari’s world!

  2. i started blogging because i love to express my views and i like to interact with more and more peoples and this was the best way of doing it.

    • Ari Herzog says:

Do you find people interacting with you beyond your desire to interact with them?

      • Not as much as I would like. I have been fairly successful (given my expectations) in gaining readers but not in gaining thoughtful comments. That is something I plan on working on.

I have blogs on various topics to let me write what I want and let the blogs reach audiences that are interested in those topics. I agree that blogs are very good when personal – expressing your personal point of view.

  3. Good insight here.
I’ve been blogging for just over one year now and after limiting myself to blogging for a niche I decided to let go of that whole concept.
It gives me more freedom to talk about just anything on my blog. It opens new doors to bloggers outside the regular ‘box’ of a niche.
    More fun to do!

What was your most favorite post to write in the past few months? That you enjoyed for yourself and that others enjoyed too?

      • I would say it was this – janbierens.com/2012/10/13/foreigners-should-blog-in-english/ post, because it lead to some different opinions on the posts subject.
I ‘mutilated’ the link so it’s not real spammy looking…

  4. Ari –

Thank you. I’ve been wrestling with “focusing” my blog for a while. I needed to hear this.

    – Daniel

  5. Oh I don’t know – no matter how hard one writes without a mind for the world it’s almost impossible to avoid slipping in a few bon mots, while smiling to yourself about how clever you’ve been and how your followers will smirk.

    Or maybe thats just me.

  6. Great advice Ari. If you like your content, the chances are someone else will and therefore will want to follow your writing.

Why write if you don’t enjoy it?

  7. I believe a good blogger is the one, who successfully writes for itself while equally focusing on what the world wants to read. Its all about creating the perfect balance!!!

  8. Right, simple but very powerful words. Most people fail because they just “don’t do it”

  9. Blogging is the way to speak publicly, everyone can’t write articles on the newspaper, so blogging is the best way to show our views about any topic or anything related to this world.

  10. Stepping outside your comfort zone is the only way you’re going to grow and find yourself as a professional and a writer. Also, I have to commend you on writing a post that is short and sweet. Me, I have to do research and come up with novels that I have to edit down. It takes me a while :)

  11. I totally agree with you Ari, I remember my self when I started my blog and I was struggling so hard to write an article as if the whole internet community knows about my blog, when in fact i didn’t have more then 20 visits per day

  12. Hi Ari Herzog,
Short and sweet post.I am totally agree with you. I also used to blog anything that I think to share.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  13. You are right. One can write best if he writes for himself. If he writes best, then he succeeds. We should write on our interests, if someone writes on his interests, then he/she is surely knowing it better than the common readers and searchers who are visiting the blog for information. Great post, you have mentioned a good blogging tactic which will help bloggers to get success in blogging.

  14. What do yo mean the whole world is not reading my blog? lol

This is so true and I have found that if I write what I am thinking and not be afraid to add in my own personal experience people respond to much more!

  15. Hi Ari,

Nice post. I feel uncomfortable writing out of my comfort zone. Like there are topics that I never touch. It’s not because I am afraid to write, but it’s because I feel I can’t write on these topics from my heart. O_0 :0 I can’t help it. :( ( still I want the whole world to read my blog. :D
