I really hate blogs with comments turned off. While I do lurk much of the time, I like the option to comment. When comments are turned off, I wonder why, and it makes me not want to read. I always figure the bloggers have really thin skin or an overly inflated opinion of themselves. I might be wrong, but that’s what I think, and I don’t want to read bloggers like that.

I used to feel like her. You can thank Leo Babauta and Andy Croll for changing my mind. They frequently write passionately and conversationally without any places to comment. Yet I continue to read them.
I am not going to turn off comments any time soon. Though, I do intend to turn off comments more frequently in the coming weeks than the default ON all-the-time setting today.
