It used to be that individuals and organizations asked you to be a fan of their Facebook pages so new updates could appear in your news feed and you could add comments and interact with other fans of the community.
No more. Becoming a fan of a page is old news. The new way to show your appreciation for a Facebook page is by indicating you like it — by clicking the Like button. Your friends will see who and what you like, and they may be tempted to like what you like.
For instance, if you like what you are reading here and have a Facebook account, I encourage to click the below image and be redirected to the Facebook page for AriWriter, where you can click the “Like” button to interact with me and other people who like what I write.
If you don’t like this, don’t click the image and don’t click the Like button. And therein lies the simplicity of the change; if you like a brand, show you like it, and if you dislike a brand, do nothing. Regardless, you will never be a fan of the brand — at least never again on Facebook.

Ari, I tried clicking the image and landed on your facebook page, but i couldnt find any like button, and yes i have logged into facebook using my credentials. Infact there is quite lot of difference between the picture here and the actual page on facebook. Totally confused with this new tweak.
If you are not a “fan” of the page yet, then you should see the “like” button unless you still see “become a fan” and you haven’t been switched over yet. Confused yet? LOL
…and now if you look at the above image and the real box off to the right, you can see “Like” reverted back to “Become a fan.”
I’m confused.
Hmm..that’s a good news. I prefer to use “like” than “become a fan”, it’s simpler and just liking.

I personally don’t like to be a fan of a page, for me it’s better to follow them in Twitter as I invest more time there.

Super simple, I like it. Perhaps by the time I rejoin FB, they will have it all worked out.

I am more on Facebook rather than twitter, but i had read a news that was commented by one bloggers, that being “Fan”, to any group or club can used for spamming. Getting all the informations that you had from your facebook, may be use in illegal ways. I don’t know anything yet about that, i just visited facebook just to contact my friends. Better to be safe. But i i like your idea, i would try it myself..

I’m not really fond of the change (I don’t “like” it). I think like isn’t as powerful as fan. For example, I like peas but I’m not a fan of peas.
I’ve also been wondering if I need to rewrite some parts of my articles to deal with the new terminology …

Yeah, you should amend older posts. As should I.
I dislike this change….”Like” is so boring that everyone will leave this pages…..please CHANGE IT BACK !!!!!….this is not what we signed up for….we wanna be FANS !!!!!!!!
Liked the idea and I will try to implement it. I like the Change., something uncommon.

I preferred “fan” but “like” may draw more people so, whatever. I’ve noticed that there are mixed feelings among those of us who use Facebook more than twitter. I wonder what Twitter is considering a change?

I like the whole concept as for example sometimes I’m not a fan of a particular music act but I do like a few of their songs and that way I can just express my appreciation for a lovely song instead of making the world assume that I’m a huge fan of theirs

I personally like the change. Like is better than fan.
