…and that spend that day on November 1, 2010.
Join me, Miranda Kerr, Buzz Aldrin, Deepak Chopra, Steven Segal, and many, many more faces around the world as we turn our lives away from Twitter and Facebook for one day. Join us as we raise awareness of autism. Join us in the Communication Shutdown.
Dr Temple Grandin, one of many autism advocates who is quoted around the web, says it best, “I can remember the frustration of not being able to talk. I knew what I wanted to say, but I could not get the words out, so I would just scream. People will have some idea of what this feels like when they take part in Communication Shutdown.”
On a side note, it is intriguing to read a blog post and comments by people with autism who argue the Shutdown is counterproductive and that autistic people do not want people to get offline. Yet, if that’s true, why are global autism agencies supporting the initiative?
Make up your mind. Do what you must.
Me, I’m taking the day off.
