It seems that everyone has a playlist of songs about the coronavirus, quarantining, and the pandemic. Pick your noun. I saw other people’s lists and then I saw a lot of websites that included more lists, and I created my own list. It’s on Spotify and you can follow it here.
My list includes obvious selections such as “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” by The Police, “Toxic” by Britney Spears, “From a Distance” by Bette Midler, “Hands Clean” by Alanis Morissette, “Stayin Alive” by the Bee Gees, and “U Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer.
I have songs about our new lives such as “Come Together” by The Beatles, “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen, “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers, “Not Alone Anymore” by the Traveling Wilburys, “Dancing with Myself” by Billy Idol, and “Red Red Wine” by UB40.
And then there are songs that celebrate our shared humanity and look forward to the future, such as “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey, “Shiny Happy People” by REM, “The Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats, and “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten.
