For the better part of a year, a black REPLY button has existed underneath every comment. Scrolling through the archive it is clear that few people take advantage of clicking it and replying to others.
It is also clear that when someone (me, a guest author, anyone) replies to your comment, you rarely return to add a follow-up comment. You may not be aware of the reply.
The way it’s historically worked on this blog is when you submit a comment, you have the option to check a box — powered by a WordPress plugin called Subscribe to Comments — to receive subsequent comments by email.
But what if you only want to receive comments in reply to you, and not every future comment on the blog post?
Enter another WordPress plugin called ReplyMe.
Effective January 8, 2011, this is now installed. What will happen is when someone replies to your comment, you will automatically receive an email notification of your comment, the new reply, and a link if you choose to continue the conversation.
Make sense? Scroll through the comments below to see what I mean.
One year ago, you shared your preferences on subscribing and replying to blog comments.
