German for an advertisement, the latest werbung to go viral on YouTube is a 3-D catalog distributed last year by IKEA, which celebrates the notoriety of printing the most third-class catalogs in the world.
Hat tip to Erin Norton for sharing this video:
Kudos to the design team at Jung Von Matt for running with the ad, but the irony of watching it today is the United States Postal Service announced a proposal to stop mail delivery on Tuesdays or Saturdays in reaction to dwindling carrier usage.
It’s about time. I congratulate the USPS for saving $2 million for recycling ink cartridges and implementing green computing initiatives, but I don’t want to receive more catalogs in the mail.
Save the trees and keep the werbungs at bay. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather shop at ikea.com.
