All things must come to an end — and AriWriter is about to die.
…and this blog has already been reborn…

Don’t fret, though, for it shall be reborn — on a different domain and with a different name.
I bought ariwriter.com in 2007 with a desire to continue the type of blogging I’d done in 2004 on LiveJournal. The ‘ariwriter’ moniker was based on my freelance writing career earlier in the decade. Had I the foresight to consider where my blogging would take me, and how that blogging would segue into leading workshops and organizational consulting, I wouldn’t have bought the domain — and would have built this blog around my other domain.
That other domain — ariherzog.com — is where this blog will shortly be.
With a different domain comes a different name — my name. Visit the blogs of Danny Brown, Chris Brogan, or Shel Holtz as an example. As I meet with colleagues and consultants to relaunch my business, I feel I should combine the content on my domains and put everything in one place, under my name.
At the end of the day, it’s all about branding.
If you subscribe to AriWriter by RSS or Email, nothing will change. If you visit this blog by a browser bookmark, you will be automatically redirected. Considering ariwriter.com has a page rank of 5 and ariherzog.com has a rank of 4, I’m confident it will rise — like the phoenix — fairly quickly.
In time, search engines will index the new instead of the old.
As you can see from my next article entitled, ‘Rebirth,’ things look a little different. I hope you stick around as we grow together in this new year…

You are a brave man Ari! Just make sure all of your redirects are in a row and you should be good to go…. Pagerank, Smagerank it’s all about PA and DA now. Good luck!
I always suspected that you would make the switch, there was once a twenty minute span where I thought your last name was “Writer.”
Congratulations on embracing yourself as a brand, it’s a strong and smart move to make.
Good luck with the move! Branding is commonly overlooked when it comes to any writers who aren’t Dan Brown or J. K. Rowling, but it’s so vital! Randy Ingermanson speaks at length about branding, and there is always a marketing section in his monthly newsletters.
Congratulations on expanding to the point where you outgrow the old and are expanding into the newer and bigger world in writing =)

Ari, I created ProductiveWriters.com last September by 301 redirecting three of my other blogs. It all went smoothly and it only took Google a couple of weeks to figure it out. I thank my Wordpress designer for that. He used a redirecting plugin for much of it.
Hi Ari,
It’s never easy to retire a website, but I definitely understand where you’re coming from. It really is all about branding, and the sooner you make the transition the easier it will be for you. I have been sitting on my own name’s domain name (if that makes sense) for a while now. I’ve basically been using it as a place to begin client projects, but recently I have started to think the same way as you. It may be time to pull off the password protection, build up a quality website, and start on my own branding mission. Good luck on the switch!
I’m wondering how the other domain got pagerank of four without having any blog or much content in there. :-/
I had bought the ariherzog.com domain in 2002, and it’s seen its share of layouts and content over the years. More recently, it’s seen a lot of backlinks from other sites as I was sometimes linking to ariwriter.com and other times not.

Good to see that you made the move seamlessly (my feed didn’t “feel” the difference). The old/new debate must have been interesting (I like them both
): while the old said what you did, the new is squarely brandeable to you.
Anyway, all the best for this “new” venture.
ps. like the picture, very creative.
I failed to check your blog for a week and I thought I was routed the wrong webpage. I can say that whatever name your blog has as long as you are the writer, I will check it out.
And with that, a small tear rolled down the faithful readers face…
Hi Ari
Look forward to your reincarnation.
The king is dead… long live the king.
Looks as though you have moved already.

What a clever headline, great way to launch a new site. Seems like a smooth transition for you, hope the rebranding gets you all the page rank, fame and riches you deserve.

“announcing-the-end-of-ariwriter”-I thought you will stop the blogging business
Some good things really ought to be left behind, at some point. To pave the way for better things ahead. What a clever ending. Good luck to you.
Good luck on the new domain, waiting for more quality content from you

Change is always good, Ari, especially if it is to make something better. Good luck.
