Why Facebook Will Be Right Back

This is a screenshot of the Facebook drop-down location for career information.Fresh on the news that Facebook may create a jobs board, I was curious what opportunities were available at the social network.

I scrolled to the bottom of the homepage, clicked the drop-down arrow, and selected ‘Careers’ from the pop-up window.

Expecting to see a list of available jobs with locations and clickable links for more information to apply, the resulting careers webpage was more telling:

This is the response I saw on the Facebook Careers webpage.

Should I presume technical difficulties imply Facebook needs to hire programmers and application engineers?

  1. U just check the careers in facebook and woot… I got interested.

  2. Hi Ari,
I’m thinking they will be back to work on this jobs page that they are planning to launch:) It does make sense to have something like this for a site like Facebook because they need to expand constantly if they want to stay on top.

  3. Long list there today– lots of system engineers needed, it seems. Interesting that they have added this– and I am wondering if they are considering expanding it to include other companies at some point.

  4. Perhaps they just need people to cover their tea breaks.

  5. FaceBook is – as a company – undergoing heavy internal changes now. Buying Instagram and a lot of (new) side activities lead to a landslide in the FaceBook career program. Once settled down, everything will be back to ‘normal’ again, I guess…

  6. Very clever Ari – you made me smile today :-)

  7. Hi Ari,

I too found this amusing. With prior programming knowledge I would have actually considered applying. The only question is where? (Wonder how long till Facebook fixes the problem?)
